Miniature for Alto Saxophone and Tape

by Sally Reid, composer, ASCAP (1985)
Program Notes:

The Miniature for Alto Saxophone and Tape (1985) was synthesized on an alphaSyntauri digital synthesizer, a modular, software programmable digital synthesis system based on the Apple IIe microcomputer. The score was generated using the companion "Composer's Assistant" software. This permits a graphic representation of taped events that resembles traditional music notation with some variants.

The solo line appears against an electronic background based on motives derived directlly from the melodic material of the solo. Some of the electronic instruments are derived from analog to digital sampling (using the DX-1 by Decillionix) of an alto saxophone.
