Ten Miniatures

by Sally Reid, composer, ASCAP

Program Notes:

The Ten Miniatures were synthesized in 1983 on an alphaSyntauri digital synthesizer, a modular, software programmable digital synthesis sytem based on the Apple IIe microcomputer. The miniatures vary in length from 20 to 90 seconds and explore the expressive potential of the medium through contrasting styles and timbres. Two of the studies have become the basis for movements in Incidental Music for Humbledowne and Suite for the Ears of a Child..
