"I Will Arise"
from the opera, Healing
for bass/baritone and piano (or 8-piece ensemble) 1986
by Sally Reid, composer, ASCAP

Program Notes:
This aria is taken from the opera, Healing, (Scene
6) based on a libretto by Chris Willerton. The time is 1910. Suffering
from heart disease, John Skye nears the end of a robust life which
ranged from the Montana frontier to Walll STreet. The aria takes
place in the dream of Skye's physician, Dr. Allison James. She
labors to save him from death, but Skye's joyous soul stands apart
and sings of his release in "I Will Arise and Go Now."
