Program Notes:
Braxton was written for David Brock and was first
performed at Abilene Christian University in 1974. The work employs
percussion instruments of indefinite pitch in various registers,
including triangles, suspended cymbals, bongos, timbales, a gong
and bass drum. The piano is played inside as well as from the
keyboard. The two instruments share equally in the rhythmic oslo
material.

- October 4, 1989 - Performance of Braxton by
soloists Vera Parkin and Deborah Nelson of Synchronia in St.
Louis.
- October 2, 1986 - Performance of Braxton by
J. David Brock and Allen Teel during a Recital of Original
Works by Sally Reid at Abilene Christian University in Abilene,
TX.
- August 18, 1974 - Premiére performance of Braxton
by J. David Brock in recital at Abilene Christian University
in Abilene, TX.
